Dr. André de Waal MBA (supplementary information)Since 2002, Dr. André A. de Waal, MBA, has been an Independent Organizational Researcher and Consultant, Associate Professor of Strategic Management at the Maastricht School of Management, Academic Director of the Center for Organizational Performance, which conducts research into the characteristics of High Performance Organizations, and Visiting Lecturer of Performance Management at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Prior to this, he spent seventeen years working as an Organizational Consultant and Partner at Arthur Andersen and the Holland Consulting Group. Managementboek.nl has named André one of the Dutch Masters of Management, ten individuals who have most influenced management thought in the Netherlands over the past decade. His research into the characteristics of High Performance Organizations in particular has attracted, and continues to attract, much national and international attention.
André obtained his PhD from the Vrije Universiteit van Amsterdam in April 2002 in the behavioral aspects essential for the successful implementation and use of Performance Management systems. He has written more than 180 articles and 21 books on Performance Management and organizational improvements, including Strategic Performance Management, a Managerial and Behavioral Approach (Palgrave MacMillan, 2007), The Financial Manager of the 21st Century (Kluwer, 2006), The Result-oriented Government, en route to performance-driven government organizations (with Leo Kerklaan, SDU, 2004), Beyond budgeting, the practical alternative to budgeting (Kluwer, 2004), Performance-oriented Behavior (Kluwer, June 2003), Developments and Trends in the Financial Function (Kluwer, 2003), Management Rages, 35 management concepts unraveled (Kluwer, 2002,) Quest for Balance (John Wiley & Sons, 2002) and Power of Performance Management (John Wiley & Sons, 2001), Strategic Performance Management, a Managerial and Behavioral Approach.
